David and Janet welcome you!

Bamboo Entry to our Favorite Hotel Tamarind Village
When we're not driving our Honda, this is how we get around Chiang Mai
A cat loved by its owner and by Janet
We have come to Chiang Mai twice in two consecutive weeks to get visas for upcoming trips to China and India, and for shopping and general fun (and Western food!).  It is about three hours from our house in our little Honda.

This city is much larger and more modern than Chiang Rai, yet we have come to like it very much.  Some friends say "Oh, they have ruined Chiang Mai" or "It's getting just like Bangkok" or "the traffic there is terrible."  We don't find these criticisms to be correct.  It is pleasant, charming, mostly still low rise, with beautiful temples and gardens and lovely hotels.  We have stayed at two nice guest houses on the Ping River, and have come to prefer the Tamarind Village Hotel (see www.tamarindvillage.com).

Here are some scenes of our travels and adventures here.
