We had a great time visiting the small town of Ban Nong Bua, near Nan. It is full of beautiful old-style wooden houses with prosperous agricultural fields all around, more vegetables and fruits than rice typical elsewhere. The town also has many people doing weaving of cotton fabrics using traditional looms and vegetable-based dyes (especially shades of green). We also enjoyed seeing the ancient temple ("wat") whose murals are akin to those seen at Wat Phumin in Nan, except here they are much more faded.
