In Chiang Mai we love to stay at the Tamarind Village Hotel, a charming peaceful oasis in the center of the old city. The staff is as friendly as the setting is comfortable yet totally exotic.
The courtyard between the two main buildings; we have stayed in both on different visits.
The marvelous tamarind tree from which the hotel takes its name; note the golden "chedi" from the adjacent wat (we hear the monks chanting in the early morning).
In December we stayed upstairs in this building.
All the pottery here comes from Professor Somlak's studio, only a couple of miles from our campus in Chiang Rai.
The beautiful pool, reception to your left and the restaurant at the far end.
We are booked for the room upstairs here for our January and February visits.
Breakfast time...great food, attentive service.
This young lady recently returned from an internship at a hotel in Minnesota, which she termed "unbelievably cold!!"
We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day, with "goodies" we can only dream about in Chiang Rai.
