After leaving the River Pagoda we stopped at the nearby Kyaik-Hmaw-Wun market, which was enjoying its monthly "festival" with huge crowds of participants, some shopping others just enjoying the scene. The market is attached to another temple, with its own crowds of merit makers and families on outings. The whole are was quite a scene. This was our first opportunity to visit a market in Myanmar, and it was indeed quite an experiencc.
This part of the market runs up to the attached pagoda.
This is the dried wood used by so many Burmese (mostly women, but some men too) as cosmetic on their faces. They are convinced it keeps their skin young, fresh, and protected from the sun. This man is making the paste from the wood.
She is laredy learning to wear the face "cream."
Janet enjoying the market goodies.
