David and Janet welcome you!

We drove about an hour outside of Yangon (our first exposure to Myanmar's terrible roads...) to the amazing Kyaik-Hmaw-Wun pagoda, in a fast-flowing river surrounded by water.  Like so many pagodas, this one has extensive history. Local people consider it very good luck to come out here by boat, feed the fish, and make merit.   Many families arrive with three or even four generations and spend the whole day at the pagoda, bringing their lunch and having an excellent "outing."
Janet getting ready to board our boat, the temple in the background.
A lovely white marble Buddha image.
Well, of course we bought some popcorn and fed the fish like all the locals do....
Merit certainly being made at this point...
David chatting with local monks...they, too, fed the fish.
Yes they do....
We were able to make friends whereever we traveled in Myanmar.
...and more new friends....
One of the families that come here for their outing; they invited us to join them for lunch, but we gracefully declined.
