One of the most famous tourist "events" in Bagan is to climb up onto one of the temples ("pagodas") to watch the sun set over the Irrawaddy River. Most tourists all race to the same temple (a large white one) called Shwesandaw Paya. For the two nights we were in Bagan our great guide Mr. Oo instead took us to temples at which we were the ONLY tourists present. (Seeing our car go there, we were pestered by a couple of the local "salesmen", but it was not crowded like elsewhere. Both nights we could see in the distance the huge camera-carrying crowd on the big pagoda, jostling each other for the best view of the incredible sunsets.
