Bagan is almost beyond belief, it's so incredible. Some 3,000 red-brick temples (literally!!!) are scattered around the dry countryside on a plain the size of Manhattan Island. Some are more than 1,000 years old yet remain in good condition; others are being built now to pay respect to elders or demonstrate one's wealth and power. We loved going around the area with our wonderful guide Mr. Oo, who seemed to know every temple personally from his years spent guiding guests through their wonders.
