David and Janet welcome you!

We really loved our three days and three nights on board the M/S River Hathor on the Nile.  We boarded in Luxor and sailed south (upriver) to Aswan.  Our ship was much smaller (32 passengers and a crew of about 26) compared to the many other tourist ships on the Nile, holding some 300 tourists each. (Our tour company, Overseas Adventure Travel, actually owns this ship and designed it to meet its unique approach to smaller-group travel.)  Our stateroom was very comfortable, much larger than we had expected; food was fun (if overly plentiful), and we enjoyed learning about delicious Sudanese peanuts with our before-dinner drinks each evening.  On board we relaxed, read, watched birds (see another page to be built on this website), and at times boarded smaller boats to go ashore for sightseeing of various types.

The gangplank leading up to our ship.
Our stateroom on the Nile cruise ship.
Our ship from the shore.
A typical view as we cruised along, the Nile creating a thin strip of green foliage with the massive, endless desert lurking just behind.
The Nile trailing off endlessly behind our ship as we cruise along (the Nile is the world's longest river).
Enjoying relaxing and reading on the upper deck.
Our ship's captain, who spoke no English. The ship frequently went left or right to follow the dredged channel and avoid the many other cruise ships going both north and south.
The upper sundeck; water in the tiny pool behind the couches was far too cold to be enjoyable.
